“For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn’t understand growth, it would look like complete destruction.” – Cynthia Occelli
I was speaking with another therapist recently, when she reminded me of this quote. Cynthia Occelli, is an author and speaker with a mission “to help women create loving, laughter-filled, abundant lives (men benefit from happy women)”. It struck me how much this quote resonates with what I needed to hear at my own current stage of growth and expansion, even though it was presented to me for other reasons. Often times, we draw to ourselves and receive the very things we seek. We just need to be mindful of how much time we spend on seeking and being with our doubts and despair versus our passions, ambitions, and the things that magnify our greatest Self. In this, we’ll always have room to grow. I find, that at every new life change, every new loss, every new goal, every new growth, and every new opportunity, we come a little bit (or a lot) undone. It is uncomfortable. It is unknown and unfamiliar. It is often frightening, even when there is a sense of excitement or simply acceptance for what is new or different. A new or different circumstance often requires something new or different within us in order to feel whole and in alignment – body, mind, and spirit.
I share Cynthia Occelli’s quote to pay it forward. To remind us all that when it feels like you are standing in complete destruction and your turned inside out, you are quite possibly on the verge of greatness!
Be in it. Be with it. Be with yourself. Breathe. Allow the seed that you are planting to come undone, reveal itself and its worthiness to you, and share its beauty.
What seeds are you planting?
What grows within?
What is tearing you apart?
What part of you seeks to achieve its greatest expression?
Dare to Come Undone
