I am a Registered Art Therapist (ATR). I received my Master’s degree in 2014 in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Art Therapy from Adler University in Chicago.
In therapy, I believe in developing an authentic, personal, client-counselor relationship. I work from a strength-based and person-centered understanding, utilizing creative expression through different art therapy techniques and approaches. I focus on the client’s well- being and allowing the client to be the expert of his/her experience. I work closely with clients to identify barriers and challenges, improve current situations, cope with everyday life concerns and collaboratively create a plan toward meaningful life goals.
My passion for art therapy and mental health counseling started in high school when I, started an art group for individuals with disabilities. I have experience working with children, adolescents and adults from a variety of ethnicities and backgrounds with severe trauma, sexual trauma, life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief/ loss, behavioral issues and family issues. I also have experience in individual and group settings in residential, inpatient/ outpatient hospital setting, hospice as well as community mental health.
As an artist, I work with a variety of materials ranging from 2D to 3D materials. I have a strong passion for sharing my artistic talents and using self-expression as a platform for mental health outreach and awareness.
