The holidays are known for beautiful decorations, fun crafts, baking cookies, and delicious meals. Holidays can be full of fun and excitement but it can also feel overwhelming and exhausting. It is important to take a break and time for yourself to unwind and relax. Here are three fun self-care holiday activities that you can do on your own or with your loved ones.
Holiday Music Meditation Activity:
Holiday music can bring back a lot of happy memories and a lot of difficult memories. Pick a favorite album or song to do a mindful meditation too. Notice what emotions come up as you listen to the song. Which parts are your favorites? What smells does it remind you of or feelings? After the song, journal or draw your reflections.
Holiday Light Stroll/ Scavenger Hunt:
Getting out of the house and being active can help with feeling less stressed and anxious. Take a stroll around the block while looking at the different holiday lights. Focus on breathing in the cold winter air and rid yourself of any anxious feelings. You can also include a holiday light scavenger hunt to make it more interactive and fun.
Holiday Intention Doodle:
We oftentimes have a lot of plans and things to get done during the holidays and it can easily get overwhelming. Choose an intention word for yourself- something that you would like to focus on either today or for the week. Write the word large on the page. Fill the sections created by the letters with doodles of different patterns and colors. While working on the doodle make yourself a cup of hot cocoa and play your favorite holiday movie in the background.
