Open. Receptive. Creative.
Every session is designed in collaboration so that you can be you, catering to your needs and your interests. So, each session may look different and involve traditional talk therapy or dance/movement therapy (DMT). DMT sessions may include breathing techniques, guided movement, movement-based games, expressive improvisational dance, or just verbal acknowledgement of body sensations as we talk about your concerns and goals. Whether we sit and talk together, or move and dance through the space, our focus will be on gaining personal insight, broadening awareness of your strengths, and identifying and applying solutions to the problems you wish to address.
What If I Don’t Want to Dance?
Dancing is never required. Many of my clients seek cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused therapy that offers a holistic perspective and understanding but does not require any form of movement. You are the owner of your experience and the decisions we make together in each session. Everything I suggest or inquire of my clients during movement or conversation is an option that can be accepted or denied. If there is a desire or need to talk, we talk. If there is a desire to move or dance, we move and dance. I will encourage you to try experiences that may feel “out of the box” and challenge you to grow, but maintaining a sense of safety and security in sessions is always the number one priority.
